Foggy was born on the 1st July 1965 in Blackburn. His Father,
who had a racing career of his own, bought Foggy a second hand
motorcross bike and together they went to Motocross tracks around
Blackburn.
In 1984 Foggy bought a second hand 250cc race bike and soon was
making his presence known. In the late 80s Foggy achieved
success in the TT F1 World Championships, British Superbike Championships
and the Isle of Man TT. In 1990 Foggy took his 3rd World Championship
title in the FIM F1 Class. In 1992 Foggy added the World Endurance
Championship to his list of achievements and also began his partnership
with Ducati. In this year he won his first WSB win at Donington
Park. The was the first victory of 55 that he achieved on a Ducati.
In 1994 Foggy won the first of his 4 WSB Championships with Ducati.
In 1998 Foggy was awarded an MBE. In 1998 and 1999 he won the
WSB Championships.
On the 23rd April 2000 Foggy crashed heavily smashing his shoulder.
After surgery Foggy spent the remainder of the season trying to
get back to fitness.
On the 21st September 2000 Foggy officially announced that he
was physically unable to ride in the same way that had earned
him his 4 Superbike World Championships. He announced his retirement.
