Giacomo Agostini known as Ago, won 15 World Championships in
his racing career between 1965 and 1976.
During his time with MV, he won a total of 110 races on the 350
and 500 machines.
Few fans will forget possibly his most epic battle in the 1967
Senior TT where he swapped position with Mike Hailwood lap by
lap. On the last lap, whilst leading by 2 ½ seconds, his
MV suffered a broken chain on the mountain.
Ago won his first ever race on a two-stroke machine, a Yamaha
at Daytona in 1974, after he had left MV 4 at the end of 1973.
Ago made the move to Yamaha as he realised that the four-stroke
engines used in the MV and Honda were no longer truly competitive.
Ago still participates in selected classic racing events and
has always managed to make the ladies hearts beat a little faster
owing to his good looks and charm.
